Spy photos of next generation Audi A8 hit the web

It is always handy to have your iPhone (or your digital camera/other phone with a good quality camera) because you never know what you can see on public roads. This is the case of a guy named Robert who captured spy photos of the next generation Audi A8 in Southern California. According to what he says, the prototype is similar in size to the current Audi A8 limousine, so the possibility that what we have here to be the next generation Audi A6 is practically very small. As you all know, the German automaker is getting ready to unveil the 2011 Audi A8 in a short time.

We will most likely get to see the first official photos of the next generation Audi A8 towards the end of this month, according to a statement of mister Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Audi, during his speech at Audi AG`s annual shareholders meeting that took place in May this year in Germany.

The public debut of the next generation Audi A8 is still very unclear, as we do not know whether the German automaker will decide to bring the limousine at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show that will take place next March, the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show that will take place next month or at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show that will take place in the first month of the next year.

The next generation Audi A8 is expected to get cleaner and more fuel efficient engines including Audi`s new 3.0 liter supercharged V6. The Audi A8 will most likely also get a lightweight aluminum chassis. It will be interesting to see how well will the Audi A8 perform in terms of sales against serious competition like the BMW 7-Series or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
