Whole family of Fiat 500s invade the US market starting next year

After being taken over by Fiat, the showrooms of Chrysler were expected to be used by the Italian automaker to sell its models on the Northern American continent. One of the first models of the Italian automaker to hit the US market in the Chrysler showrooms is the Fiat 500. Thus, American potential buyers of the Fiat 500 will have to go to their local Chrysler dealership to get their hands on the supermini. This strategy is somewhat similar to the strategy adopted by BMW after buying the MINI brand. Quite surprising is the fact that all three version of the Fiat 500 are going to be sold in the USA, including the sporty Abarth and the convertible version of the Fiat 500.

The Fiat 500 will be sold mainly in metropolitan areas at select dealers that house all Chrysler Group LLC brands and will include a dedicated salon inside the dealership, as mister Peter M. Grady, Vice President of Network Development & Fleet of Chrysler, revealed.

The first version of the Fiat 500 to see North American soil is the basic three door model that will hit the Chrysler showrooms by the end of 2010 and will get its power from a new 1.4 liter Multiair four cylinder petrol engine.

Next up will be the Fiat 500C, the convertible version of the basic three door hatchback. The Fiat 500C features a rather simple rollback canvas retaining the car`s roofline and C-pillar. The Fiat 500C will hit the US market in 2011.

Last but not least will be the sporty Fiat 500 Abarth that gets its power from a turbocharged four cylinder engine. The sporty Fiat 500 Abarth will hit the US market in 2012.

The Italian automaker seems to have big plans for the North American market, as they are already planning to build the Fiat 500 destined for the North American market in a plant located in Mexico. Also, a number of special edition and limited edition versions of the Fiat 500 are expected to be revealed soon, even if for the time being noting official was disclosed.
