Sales of UK built Honda Civic Type R start in Japan

Honda is trying to conquer new markets with their current line up of models. The Honda Civic Type R was originally conceived as a model for the European market exclusively. Still, both the three door and the five door versions of the compact Honda Civic Type R are used by the Japanese automaker to conquer more markets outside of Europe. After bringing the three door hatchback version of the Honda Civic Type R to the South African market and the Australian market, now the Japanese automaker has brought the same three door hatchback version Honda Civic Type R to the Japanese market too. Now, Honda has stated that the sales of the Honda Civic Type R three door hatchback have started in Japan, as the first units of the car were shipped from Southampton.

This is the second time since 2001 that the European built Honda Civic Type R is being sold in the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market), thanks to the 201 horsepower version of the Honda Civic Type R three door hatchback.

The Honda Civic Type R three door hatchback will be available in Japan in a series of exterior colors, including Championship White, Milano Red and Alabaster Silver. Honda plans to sell a grand total of 2010 units of the three door Civic Type R in Japan for the time being.

The three door hatchback Honda Civic Type R that will be sold on the Japanese market will get its power from a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated four cylinder engine capable of developing 142 lb-ft of torque at 5600 revs per minute and 201 horsepower at 7800 revs per minute.
