19th of November 2009 Earlier this year, during the 2009 edition of the New York Auto Show, Mitsubishi previewed the Outlander GT prototype. Now, based on the Mitsubishi Outlander GT prototype, the US division of the Japanese automaker has revealed the top of the line production ready SUV. The production ready Mitsubishi Outlander GT kept the Super All Wheel Control system (S-AWC) of the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X from the prototype Outlander GT. Still, this is the only feature kept for the production version from the prototype, as Mitsubishi decided to ditch the lower exterior trim finish, the specific three spoke steering wheel and the 19 inch O.Z. alloy wheels as well as the aluminum roof finish.
The S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system makes use of an electronically controlled four wheel drive coupling and an active front limited slip differential in order to improve stability, handling and traction by preventing wheel slip between front and rear and side to side.
The Mitsubishi Outlander GT gets some important features, including an upgraded 710 watt Rockford Fosgate audio system, 18 inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, enhanced interior trim with leather seats, a multi color 3.5 inch LCD between the gauges, full leather treatment for the dashboard, alloy pedals and sport seats.
The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT gets its power from a 3.0 liter V6 engine capable of developing 230 horsepower at 6250 revs per minute and 204 lb-ft of torque at 4000 revs per minute. The engine of the Outlander GT is also found on the Mitsubishi Outlander XLS. A six speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters complete the powertrain of the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT.
Potential customers will be able to get their hands on the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander starting from a base price of 29.250 US dollars.
