Mitsubishi has released the official designs of its new small crossover. From what we see in these official designs, the unnamed small crossover made by Mitsubishi will retain most of the styling cues featured on the 2007 Mitsubishi cX concept, on which it is based. Most modifications for the production ready version are applied to the rear end of the small crossover, which seems to longer. Still, the Mitsubishi small crossover shown in these official designs is a lot less exciting in comparison to what Mitsubishi wanted us to believe one month ago, when they released a teaser sketch.
The new Mitsubishi small crossover will compete directly with the upcoming Nissan Qazana crossover and will be smaller than the Mitsubishi Outlander . This is a little surprising, as the new Mitsubishi small crossover will use the same mid size global platform developed by the Japanese automaker that is also used for the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Mitsubishi Lancer.
The 2007 Mitsubishi cX concept was powered by a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine capable of developing 136 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. This engine will also be found on the production ready version of the small crossover, along with a large variety of four cylinder diesel and petrol engines.
The European market along with other international markets will get to see the new Mitsubishi small crossover some time in the summer of the next year, while the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) will get the new Mitsubishi small crossover next year in February.
