Production of Buick Regal moving to Canada starting from 2011

The 2011 Buick Regal is expected to hit the US market in the spring of the next year. The first series of models destined for the North American market will be built at Opel`s plant located in Russelsheim, Germany, alongside with the European Opel Insignia. Still, this will be just a temporary measure, as General Motors has confirmed today that they will be assembling the Buick Regal at their Oshawa Car Assembly plant located in Canada starting from the first quarter of 2011.

Arturo Elias, president of General Motors Canada, has stated that ``The new Regal gives Buick a modern performance sedan and its production here in Oshawa is terrific news for our employees, the CAW, dealers and suppliers``. He continued by saying that ``Combining Buick`s top position in the industry in terms of brand quality with the Oshawa Car Plant`s long standing reputation for top quality assembly means customer`s highest expectations will be met with this midsize sport sedan``.

General Motors and the Canadian and Ontario Governments have made an agreement that includes the production of new vehicles in Canada. Thus, after the GMC Terrain, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Chevrolet Equinox, the Buick Regal mid size sedan is the fourth new vehicle being produced in Canada. A fifth vehicle will be added in the near future, according to General Motors.
