The SEMA Show is an opportunity for tuning companies (North American companies especially) to show what they are capable of doing. Still, in some cases, the automakers themselves join forces with the tuning companies to create something really special. This is the case for this project that will debut at the 2009 edition of the SEMA Show that will take in Las Vegas between the 3rd and the 6th of November.
What we have here is a Hyundai Genesis Coupe modified by the famous American tuning company Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE for short) in collaboration with Hyundai Motor American, the North American division of the South Korean automaker. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Hennessey gets an extremely modified turbocharged engine (not mentioned which one) capable of developing 500 horsepower at 6000 revs per minute and 630 Nm of torque. Thanks to the powerful turbocharged engine, the Hennessey version of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is able of doing a quarter mile in 12.5 seconds from standstill while being able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds. In terms of styling, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Hennessey gets a matte black carbon fiber wrap.
Other features include Brembo lightweight rotors, Savini lightweight alloy wheels with chrome lips and silver centers as well as Eibach Springs.
The car looks very interesting and it will surely attract a lot of public at the 2009 edition of the SEMA Show that will take place in Las Vegas. From my point of view, it looks kind of weird being wrapped in carbon fiber and with all those decals on the side skirt. I think that if they would have finished the Hyundai Genesis in a pure, clean, matte black finish it would have looked a lot better.
