After previously telling you that the Volkswagen New Beetle will enter its final year of production after a lifespan of 11 years, we have similar news now. The Dodge Viper will enter the final year of production in 2010, as the production will be ceased towards the end of the next year. The Dodge Viper has been in production since 1992. Dodge has in plan to build around 500 Dodge Viper for the last model year. In order to celebrate the final production of the current generation Dodge Viper SRT10, the North American automaker will introduce a series of special edition models, add new colors and improve performance.
The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadster and Coupe will get a shorter fifth gear ratio (changing from 0.74 to 0.80) for improved high speed acceleration and higher straightaway speeds along with two new exterior colors: Silver metallic Clear Coat and Toxic Orange Pearl Coat.
The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 will have a top speed of 325 km/h or 202 mph, a 0-100-0 mph time of 11 seconds, a quarter mile time of about 11.5 seconds and a 0-60 mph or a 0 to 96 km/h acceleration time of less than 4 seconds. All these performances are possible thanks to a 8.4 liter V10 engine capable of developing 600 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, the same engine as the one found in the current Viper SRT10.
The body styles of the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 will be the same, more precisely Coupe and Roadster. The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 will also be offered with an ACR (American Club Racer) package that is meant to make the car even more hardcore.
The hardcore Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR will be able of reaching a maximum speed of 184 mph or 296 km/h and will have some interesting features, including end plates, a new short throw shifter and a redesigned rear wing profile. As you probably remember, the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR managed to set a new lap record at the famous Laguna Seca raceway.
Two of the first special edition models that will be launched in 2010 have been presented at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The first one is a 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR Voodoo Edition that gets a Graphite Driver`s Stripe outlined in red and an all Black Clear Coat exterior. The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR Voodoo Edition will be built in only 10 units.
The second one is a 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR 1:33 Edition. As the name suggests, this limited edition is meant to bring a tribute to the new production car lap record set on the 24th of November at the Laguna Seca raceway. The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR 1:33 Edition interior features piano black console bezels with red gauge highlights complemented with red accent stitching in the seats. The exterior features include a unique two tone Black Clear Coat / Red Clear Coat exterior color scheme which is the exact opposite of the original ACR model. The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR will be built in a limited run of only 33 units.
