The 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show is the last important auto event of the year. Practically all the automakers have tried their best to bring some interesting cars on display in Los Angeles, in order to end the year in a positive manner. Volkswagen is no exception, as they actually have on display one of the most interesting cars present at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. We are talking about the Volkswagen Up! Lite concept. The Volkswagen Up! Lite is a three door vehicle that can accommodate up to four people. The Volkswagen Up! Lite is expected to be the starting point for a future small car of the German automaker. The Volkswagen Up! Lite gets its power from a 0.8 liter turbo diesel engine capable of developing 51 horsepower and a electric motor that produces 13 extra horsepower. The power is more than enough, as the Volkswagen Up! Lite has a weight of 1532 lbs or 695 kilograms.

The Volkswagen Up! Lite is able to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h or 100 mph while going from standstill to 100 km/h in 12.5 seconds. The three door Volkswagen Up! Lite is the fifth concept model in the Up! series. The German automaker seems to have mixed up the fuel economy of the Volkswagen Up! Lite as they announce a figure of 70 mpg US on the highway and a European cycle fuel consumption of 2.44 liters per 100 kilometers which is equivalent to 96.6 mpg US. Thus, we can not be sure exactly how much fuel does the Volkswagen Up! Lite need.

The ``New Small Family`` of Volkswagen are expected to hit the market until the end of 2011. According to Volkswagen, the Volkswagen Up! Lite might hit the market in three or fours years.
