Equipment for old Saab 9-5 bought by BAIC

Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation, or BAIC for short, has bought the equipment for the old Saab 9-5 from the Swedish automaker. This information has been published for the first time in the Ny Teknik, a Swedish newspaper, which quotes unnamed sources. Gunilla Gustavs, spoke person of Saab, has stated that ``I can not comment this information`` when the Swedish newspaper asked for an official opinion. It seems that the deal is as good as done, according to the report.

For those of you who forgot, the Chinese automaker BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation) had previously joined forces with Koenigsegg in order to buy Saab , but the deal fell through as Koenigsegg canceled the whole thing. After that, rumors claimed that BAIC would try to buy Saab itself, without any other help. General Motors has stated that they will be waiting until the end of the year for other interested buyers to appear, also mentioning that if no one will come up with an offer for Saab , they will consider dropping the brand.

This new information practically has put the final nails in the Saab coffin. It is more than obvious that BAIC will start producing the old generation Saab 9-5 under their nametag and drop their intentions to buy the entire company. As no other companies seem interested, Saab will probably just drop dead, like Saturn. It is a pity that a historical company will just disappear. Hopefully, four or five years later, when the economical crisis will be long gone, someone (maybe even the Swedish government) will bring back Saab to life.
