First spy shots of 2012 Hyundai Veloster surface

The Hyundai Veloster is a highly anticipated car that will replace the Hyundai Coupe (European name) or the Hyundai Tiburon as it is known on the other markets. Now, a South Korean forum member has posted a set of spy photos showing a Hyundai Veloster prototype during some testing procedures. Well, to be completely honest, there are only two photos of the Hyundai Veloster prototype, one showing it from behind (being heavily camouflaged) and one showing the left side of the car.

In the summer of 2009, mister John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said that the production version of the Hyundai Veloster will look 70 to 80 percent like the 2007 Hyundai Veloster concept. Mister John Krafcik also said about the Hyundai Veloster that it is ``a four passenger Honda CR-X ``.

The small front wheel drive coupe will hit the market before the end of 2011, alongside the larger and more expensive rear wheel drive Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Hyundai might launch a diesel powered Hyundai Veloster on the European market as well as a more powerful version of the Hyundai Veloster that will get its power from either a turbocharged 1.6 liter engine or from a 2.0 liter GDI engine capable of developing 198 horsepower that is currently available on the Hyundai Sonata. The mainstream version of the Hyundai Veloster will get its power from a 1.6 liter four cylinder engine with direct injection that is capable of developing 140 horsepower. Hyundai is expecting this model to return over 40 mpg US in fuel economy which translates into a fuel economy of 48 mpg UK or a fuel consumption of 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
