Cadillac CTS in the CR book is excellent

February 2010's CR (Consumer Reports) issue shows us Cadillac CTS being the best luxury sedan, after the U.S. made vehicle earn the test score on road of 84, meaning an 'excellent' rating. CTS beat rivals like Acura RL (being 'very good'), Lincoln MKS (with 'very good') and Mercedes-Benz E350 (as 'very good').

David Champion, Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center senior director stated for the press 'With excellent driving dynamics, a smooth and punchy drivetrain and a well-furnished interior, the CTS outscores some of the best imported luxury sports sedans'.

CR says that CTS, costing 50,995 Dollars, 'gives up virtually nothing to the premium European cars tested in terms of refinement, powertrain, ride, or handling'.

It runs with a 6-cylinder 3.6l engine making 304 hp (which is the same one from the list with best engines of Ward Automotive Group 2009), the CTS has 155.3 mph (250 km/h) as maximum speed, consuming to 21 mpg (11.2l/100Km) on the combined cycle. This are the official numbers, as CR put CTS to 19 mpg overall - average.

CR affirms the CTS' ride 'is supple' and the 'control and handling are agile and sporty'. The automatic transmission - 6-speed of the tested CTS model 'shifts responsively', its braking is 'excellent'.

Next week the Coupe CTS-V will be revealed at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) 2010.
