Record in sales for SEAT in UK

The recession affected carmakers in 2009, but the builders who played on the right path are celebrating now that the year changes. SEAT is one of those lucky ones.

The automaker from Spain, owned by VW had a great year in UK, getting its best market share ever: 1.5 percent – SMMT confirmed it. SEAT sales were fabulous on the whole range, reaching a 29,987 total of new auto sales in 2009. The overall 2009 United Kingdom of car market is at the moment down with 6.4 percent at just 1.99 million brand new vehicles sold, the 1st sub-2 million all-new auto market ever since 1995.

The head of SEAT UK - Peter Wyhinny said 'The achievements behind our exceptional sales successes in 2009 cannot be overstated. The economic backdrop to this record market share was, arguably, the worst in living memory and yet the appeal of the SEAT line-up has obviously shone through'.

'The debuts last year of iconic additions to our range such as the stunning Ibiza Cupra Bocanegra ensure we continue to lead in the style stakes, too'.

'Add the enduring appeal of our cars, characterized by record used car sales to the dealer network in 2009 plus consistently impressive residual values, and a strong programme of product renewal and expansion throughout the next 12 months and beyond, and despite the uncertain economic conditions you can see why we’re cautiously optimistic about the year ahead'.
