There are a lot of car enthusiasts in the world, but amongst these enthusiasts there are a few people that have passed the line between being an enthusiast and being out of your mind.

A German tuning company named AME Racing has developed one of the most insane (and useless to be honest) projects that I have seen in the last couple of years. More precisely, they have taken a first generation Volkswagen Polo and transformed it into a dragster. More precisely, the first generation Volkswagen Polo based dragster is bossted by a heavily modified 1.9 liter inline four cylinder engine with a Garrett GT40R turbocharger and a custom air / water intercooler for a total output of 950 Nm of torque and 1047 horsepower. Obviously, the drivetrain of the first generation Volkswagen Polo could not handle all this power, so the tuning team installed a six speed manual gearbox which is linked to an all wheel drive system from the Audi TT. Over 1000 horsepower and an Audi TT all wheel drive system? Now this is crazy.

According to AME Racing, the Volkswagen Polo dragster is able of reaching speeds of about 300 km/h. Obviously, acceleration times are utterly fabulous. The Volkswagen Polo based dragster can run a quarter mile sprint in 9.15 seconds, while being able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.3 seconds. An extra 50 km/h are achieved in 2.7 extra seconds, which means that the AME Racing dragster can go from 0 to 250 km/h in 9.0 seconds.
