Camaro SMS 620 - details on performance

US tuner/maker Steve Saleen's Supercars SMS announced it will debut the 1st official photos of the SMS Camaro 2010 in Detroit at the next International Auto Show in North America. The car will be launched this year on the 2nd quarter.

Steve Saleen, SMS Supercars' President and CEO stated for the press 'The SMS 620 Camaro will be the only Camaro authorized to benefit from my heritage and to incorporate innovations derived from my thirty plus years of racing and manufacturing experience. We are excited to add the SMS 620 Camaro to our line of SMS Signature Series cars, which includes the SMS 570 Challenger and SMS 460 Mustang'.

On the inside, this 3rd and final SMS Supercars contraption presents high performance scale and brand new Alcantara plus SMS performance seats from leather featuring the patented chevron stripes Signature Series.

Phil Frank – SMS' Chief Creative Officer affirmed 'We have incorporated our well-known functional SMS Red Butterfly Dual Side Induction Hood as well as our race-proven aerodynamics in this third vehicle in our SMS Signature Series. The SMS 620 Camaro is a dramatic and iconic visual statement that very clearly bears the SMS design DNA'.

The firm stated, the SMS Camaro 2010 will run with a V8 6.2l engine, 575 hp output and 600 ft-lb torque; the 620X variant will make 715 hp, 700 ft-lb torque. And both variants will be using the patent pending Supercharger SMS 296, six-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual.

Camaro SMS 620 does 60 in less than 4.3 seconds, meanwhile its 620X variant does it in 4.0 seconds. It features options like Torvec Isotorque Differential and Magneto-Rheological Semi-Active Dampers and rear wheels of 21-inch.
