The new generation Opel Meriva has been officially revealed some days ago and it made quite an impression with its suicide style doors. Still, the world debut of the Opel Meriva will take place at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March this year. Until then, a series of pictures have leaked online. These images show us the new Opel Meriva in real life. The small MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) will be a direct competitor for other models like the Citroen C3 Picasso.
According to the German automaker, the fuel consumption has been reduced by 15% on average in comparison to the current generation Opel Meriva . The new Opel Meriva has been designed and developed at the engineering center in Russelsheim, Germany owned by Opel. The next generation MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) will be built at the plant located in Zaragoza, Spain that is owned by General Motors. The new Opel Meriva is expected to hit the European market in the summer of this year.
The new generation Opel Meriva will get its power from a choice of six engines that have outputs ranging from 75 horsepower all the way up to 140 horsepower. The drivetrain will be completed by a choice of either a five speed or six speed manual transmission as well as a six speed automatic transmission.
