Fiat 500 BEV concept debuts at NAIAS

Fiat could not miss the opportunity to have some cars on display at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Still, their offering was quite poor, which is understandable as Fiat is counting more on Chrysler when it comes to the North American market.

Still, what we have here is a concept named Fiat 500 BEV. The Fiat 500 BEV is an electric concept car about which Fiat did not offer any details yet. The name BEV comes from Battery Electric Vehicle and it seems that this car will remain at the concept form, as the Italian automaker has no plans to release a production version in the future.

The Fiat 500 BEV was presented right next to the Abarth version of the Fiat 500. From what it seems, the Fiat 500 BEV gets new alloy wheels as well as a similar body kit to the one the Abarth version has, excepting the tail pipes at the rear.

The interior of the Fiat 500 BEV looks quite interesting, as it features push button controls instead of the traditional gear lever, sumptuous leather seats finished in red as well as a sport steering wheel with red stitching.
