After a lot of rumors and speculation, Honda finally decided to publicly present the new HSV-10. The Honda HSV-10 will take the place of the legendary Honda NSX in the Japanese Super GT competition, in the GT500 class to be more precise.
Not a lot of people remember that at the end of 2008, due to the economic recession, the Japanese automaker decided to cancel the project for a spiritual for the Honda NSX . Still, they decided that instead of wasting a large amount of work and money that were invested in the project, to finish it and that the final result to be used in the Japanese Super GT series.
The racing version of the Honda HSV-10 features a rack and pinion system with electric power steering, a double wishbone suspension all around as well as steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for the transmission. The racing version of the Honda HSV-10 has a weight of about 2425 pounds or a little over 1100 kilograms.
The basic Honda HSV-10 gets a V10 front mounted engine as well as a rear wheel drive system. For the Super GT series version, the Japanese automaker decided to go for a naturally aspirated 3.4 liter V8 engine that has an output of over 500 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque instead of the V10 engine.
