The Dodge Durango was a moderately popular SUV in the United States of America until it was discontinued in 2009. Now, all the fans of the Dodge Durango have reasons to be happy as the third generation of the SUV is expected to hit the market towards the end of 2011, having a place in Dodge`s lineup for 2012. Still, there is a lot of time until then and we will be seeing more and more information regarding the Dodge Durango.

The latest piece of information came in a form of U.S. patent drawings, as someone discovered them and uploaded them onto the internet. In these patent drawings we can see how the 2012 Dodge Durango will look like. Being patent drawings, they are only in black and white but still we can make a very good image of how the third generation Dodge Durango will look like (at least the exterior design).

Rumors claim that the third generation Dodge Durange will be built on a longer version of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, which at its turn is derived from the latest Mercedes Benz ML . The 2012 Dodge Durango will most likely get its power from the same engines in the range of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee . More precisely, from a 5.7 liter V8 engine capable of developing 360 horsepower and a 3.6 liter Pentastar engine that has an output of 280 horsepower.
