Pricing details for 2011 Hyundai Sonata released

The sixth generation Hyundai Sonata will hit the North American market this month. Thus, the South Korean automaker has officially announced pricing details for their new sedan model.

A six speed automatic transmission will come as standard, which will be coupled to a new 2.4 liter four cylinders engine that has an output of 198 horsepower (200 with dual exhaust system). Unfortunately for the North American market, this will be the only options available straight from the beginning.

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata will be offered in a number of trims, including the cheapest Hyundai Sonata GLS that will get its power from the 2.4 liter four cylinders engine with an output of 198 horsepower and will have a base price of 19.195 U.S. dollars. Next up in the range will be the Hyundai Sonata SE that will get the dual exhaust system, making the engine develop 200 horsepower for a base price of 22.595 U.S. dollars. The top of the range will be the Hyundai Sonata Limited that comes with the Navigation Package for a base price of 27.395 U.S. dollars.

The sixth generation Hyundai Sonata will have serious competitors, including the Chevrolet Malibu , the Honda Accord , the Nissan Altima, the Toyota Camry and the Ford Fusion.

One of the features that will hopefully draw in more potential buyers is the fact that the Hyundai Sonata GLS has the best overall fuel economy in its class, according to the South Korean automaker. More precisely, the GLS version has a fuel economy rating of 24 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway (or the equivalent of a fuel consumption of 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.72 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway).

In my opinion the sixth generation Hyundai Sonata has a fabulous design and will surely get a big piece of the North American market. Hopefully, we will get to see the new Hyundai Sonata in Europe too.
