The Super Bowl is maybe the most important event during a year in the United States of America. Practically, the Super Bowl is the most watched TV program of the year. It is estimated that on average, 80 to 90 million Americans are watching the Super Bowl at any give time with a peak of 130 to 140 million Americans watching a certain part of the game. Thus, it comes as no surprise that all the automakers do whatever they can to get their commercials broadcasted during the Super Bowl. With such a large sum of potential buyers, automakers decide to pay even more on advertising than it would be worth just so that they are present during the event.
Hyundai has aggressively attacked the American market in the last year or two, having made important advertising campaigns, including the fact that they have billboards in the famous Times Square. Now, with only a couple of days before the Super Bowl event (that takes place this Sunday, February 7), Hyundai has decided to release all eight of their commercials that will air throughout the entire day when the Super Bowl takes place. Yes, I did not make a mistake, Hyundai has prepared eight (8!!!) commercials to broadcast on TV in the day of and during the Super Bowl.
In their eight commercials, the South Korean automaker has put an accent in promoting the new Hyundai Tucson, the Hyundai Sonata as well as promoting the overall quality of the brand.
Joel Ewanick, vice president of marketing, Hyundai Motor America, has stated ``The Super Bowl is not only a showcase for great football, but also for the most significant advertising, reaching an estimated 95 million viewers in the U.S.``. He continued by saying that ``Following in the footsteps of our 2008 and 2009 Super Bowl focus on the new Genesis and Genesis Coupe, we are focusing this year's Super Bowl campaign on the all-new 2011 Sonata, the most significant new model introduction in our history``.
I have to say that I have watched all eight commercials and I think they are pure genius. Hyundai will surely take a big piece out of the American car market.
