Official revealing of Seat Ibiza Sport Tourer

Official revealing of Seat Ibiza Sport Tourer

Even if the world debut is expected to take place next month at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Seat Ibiza Sport Tourer has finally been revealed. It was expected that the revealing to not take place until next month, but looks like the guys over at Seat were too excited to wait any longer. The Seat Ibiza ST is a subcompact estate, being the third member of the Ibiza range, after the three door and five door models.

The Seat Ibiza ST has lost practically all of the bold styling elements that made the concept version Seat IBZ (displayed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show) look so special, like the sharper tail lamps or the hidden rear door handles. Practically, the general styling reminds us of the Audi A3 Sportback from the C-pillar afterwards, while before the C-Pillar it looks exactly like the hatchback version. The Seat Ibiza ST is about 180 millimeters longer than the hatchback model, having a total length of 4320 millimeters.

From what we can see in the official images, the extra length is sued for the rear overhang, which results in a larger luggage compartment of 430 liters. Obviously, if the rear seats are folded the luggage compartment capacity can be further increased.

The Seat Ibiza ST will come with a large engine range, consisting of three TDI units with common rail injection and three petrol units (four of which get direct injection and a turbocharger). Some of the most popular engines will most likely be the 1.6 liter TDI that has outputs of 90 horsepower and 105 horsepower as well as the 1.2 liter TSI petrol engine that has an output of 105 horsepower.

The Seat Ibiza ST will hit the European market starting from the summer of this year.
