The Volkswagen Beetle is, probably, the biggest legend of the auto world. Even if you can argue whether it is or not the biggest legend of the auto industry, it is surely the model that has had the longest life span, being produced between 1938 and 2003 in over 21.000.000 (21 million!) units. In 2003, the Volkswagen Beetle has been put to an end, being replaced since 1998 by the Volkswagen New Beetle . 2010 is the final year of production for the Volkswagen New Beetle and a second generation is highly anticipated. Still, a second generation Volkswagen New Beetle might never come, as the German automaker seems to have decided to loose the ``new`` in the name and stick with the Volkswagen Beetle nametag.
What we have here is a rendering in which we can see how the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle might turn out to look like. It is expected that the next generation Volkswagen Beetle might get a sporty R version as well as an eco friendly BlueMotion version in the range. Also, the next generation Volkswagen Beetle will probably get muscular wheel arches in an attempt to attract young buyers and it will feature LED technology in the front and rear exterior lights clusters. Obviously, the new Volkswagen Beetle will be bigger both inside and outside, gaining a lot of interior space, especially at the rear.
Well, I am certainly looking forward to see the next generation Volkswagen Beetle in production form, as I am curious whether it can repeat at least half of the success it had decades ago.
