You probably know that 2010 is a very special year for Alfa Romeo, as it celebrates its centennial this year. In order to properly celebrate this important event, a British dealership decided to break the world record for the largest parade of Alfa Romeos in history. More precisely, we are talking about an Alfa Romeo dealership in Surrey, England.

The event took place two weekends and in the two mile drive a number of minimum 200 cars were required to participate in order to set a new world record. The interest was high as the required number of 200 Alfa Romeo models was quickly achieved and even more on top. The total number of Alfa Romeo models that participated at this event was of 312. Some classic Alfa Romeo models were present too, including an Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce and an Alfa Romeo SZ Coupe.

Some people were willing to do anything to participate at this event. David Boyd is a good example as he drove almost 1400 kilometers (862 miles) to join the world record parade, coming all the way from Bathgate, West Lothian, England down to the dealership in Surrey.

According to the organizers of the parade, Guinness World record officials will validate the record in the weeks to come. Video cameras were positioned along the route in order to help with the verification of the record. The parade of cars needed to be continuously moving from start to finish with no more than two cars length between each vehicle at any given time, in order for the record to become official.

The organizer of the event, Karen Finn, Customer Care & Marketing Manager at the Surrey dealership stated ``The huge display of these beautiful and sporting cars is the perfect way to celebrate the Alfa Romeo centennial``.
