One of the ugliest cars available on the market will be available in yet another version, a little more affordable for the common loo…erm, luxury lover.
The new version of the Porsche Panamera will get its power from a 3.6 liter V6 petrol engine with direct fuel injection (made by Volkswagen) which is about 30 kilograms lighter than the V8 engine available on the Panamera S/4S models. The entry level Porsche Panamera will be available with a rear wheel drive system or an all wheel drive system (the Porsche Panamera 4). The 3.6 liter V6 engine has an output of 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, being coupled to a PDK double clutch gearbox, having the Start & Stop technology as standard. The performance numbers have not been announced, but the all wheel drive Porsche Panamera 4 will have an average fuel consumption of 9.6 liters per 100 kilometers (24.5 mpg US or 29.4 mpg UK) while the rear wheel drive Porsche Panamera will have a fuel consumption of 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers (25.3 mpg US or 30.4 mpg UK). The entry level Porsche Panamera return an average level of 213 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide emissions for the standard rear wheel drive version while the all wheel drive Porsche Panamera 4 returns 220 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide emissions. The fuel consumption can be further lowered by a pair of 19 inch alloy wheels with optimized roll resistance tires that reduce the fuel consumption by an extra 0.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
The world debut of the new entry level Porsche Panamera models will take place at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show in April while the sales will begin in the UK and the USA in June this year, with European sales starting one month earlier, in May.
On the North American market, the Porsche Panamera with a rear wheel drive system will have a price of 74.400 U.S. dollars while the all wheel drive version Porsche Panamera 4 will have a price of 78.900 U.S. dollars. For the British market, the Porsche Panamera 4 with an all wheel drive will have a price of 66.929 British pounds while the rear wheel drive version will be priced at 61.461 British pounds. Finally, on the German market the Porsche Panamera with a rear wheel drive system will have a price of 75.899 Euros (the equivalent of 103.275 U.S. dollars!!!) while the all wheel drive version will have a price of 84.110 Euros (the equivalent of 114.500 U.S. dollars!!!).
