18th of February 2010 The Toyota Passo, also known on other markets as the Daihatsu Sirion, the Daihatsu Storia, the Daihatsu Boon or the Toyota Duet, is a supermini that has been in production since 1998. The first generation of the Toyota Passo / Daihatsu Boon was in production between 1998 and 2004 while the second generation has been in production since 2004 until now. Fortunately, after 5 or 6 years of production, it is time that the third generation to make its way onto the market.
Now, the Japanese automaker has officially launched the new generation Toyota Passo / Daihatsu Boon. The third generation supermini was co-developed by both Toyota and Daihatsu, members of the Toyota Group. According to the Japanese automaker, the new Toyota Passo / Daihatsu Boon is both compact and spacious, being both fuel efficient and easy drive. The new Toyota Passo will be available in eleven colors, more than enough for the vast majority of buyers. The Toyota Passo will get its power from a choice of either a 1.3 liter 1NR-FE DVVT engine or a 1.0 liter 1KR-FE engine, both of them mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
The actual production of the car will be done by Daihatsu, who will sell it under the name Daihatsu Boon. The new Toyota Passo will have a base price of 1 million Yen, which is about 11.100 U.S. dollars. The Toyota Passo is said to be ``simple and unpretentious``. The Japanese automakers hopes to reach a level of 6500 Toyota Passo / Daihatsu Boon models sold monthly.
