Australian market new Mazda 2 coming in May

After launching the European and North American versions of the 2010 Mazda 2 facelift, it is time that Australia gets its new model too.

The new 2010 Mazda 2 for the Australian market will be available for the first time in sedan version too. The styling modifications for the hatchback version include a revised upper grille, darker head light clusters and a smiley shaped lower grille, all of them incorporated on the new front bumper. Practically, these are the same modifications as the North American 2010 Mazda 2 received.

The sedan version of the Mazda 2 will get a number of standard features, including ABD with EBD, front, side and curtain SRS airbags, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning as well as 15 inch alloy wheels.

Both the hatchback and the sedan versions of the 2010 Mazda 2 for the Australian market will get their power from a 1.5 liter petrol engine that has an output of 102 horsepower that will be mated to a choice of either an automatic transmission or a manual gearbox.

The new 2010 Mazda 2 will be built at the Mazda factory in Thailand (previously the model for the Australian market was built in Japan). The new Mazda 2 will hit the Australian showrooms in May this year.
