At the Geneva Auto Show 2010 you'll see the electric coupe SEAT IBE concept, model reaching production like part of the scheme made by the government in Spain for encouraging local drivers to go towards more "green" transportation means. Autocar.co.uk cited SEAT insiders that said the Spanish carmaker is pondering now a few green units, the IBE concept included.

SEAT will be introducing also (besides this concept) a hybrid petrol-electric model that's based on the VW Golf platform, with a few changes of course. A hybrid SEAT Leon will be produced by 2014 too, probably.

IBE concept is 1.80 meters wide, 3.78 meters long and 1.22 meters, meaning it's shorter with 25cm than Ibiza, 10cm wider and 22cm lower.

Its engine makes 200 Nm torque and 102 horsepower, meaning it could go from zero to 50 km/h in only 3.4 seconds, to 80 km/h in just 6.3 seconds and in 9.4 seconds to 100 kmh. The continuous rating of power has a limit of 68 horsepower, having the speed hitting 160 km/h; 18 kWh - battery capacity.

The president of SEAT, S.A. - James Muir said at the Auto Show in Geneva the IBE model is in the best tradition of SEAT of offering always the boldest, youthful vehicles in the class. The 1st electric concept model is representing the strategy continuation for future; so, after the great success of the very efficient ECOMOTIVE units, the company working hard now on electric mobility; this is including plug-in hybrid drive, and an all-electric car too.
