Toyota has lots of things to fix after announcing that 8-million units worldwide recall. The popular Japanese manufacturer needed to repair the accelerator pedal failure on a few cars in this range plus the braking problem on Prius, hoping that its customers will still believe in the company and its high quality commitment.
Apparently the hard days are not over. There is a report states that a Prius, that was believed to have problems only with the brakes, got an accelerator failure on an American highway.
Toyota stated official about this incident: 'This afternoon (Monday, March 8), Toyota learned of a report that a California Highway PatrolĀ (CHP) unit was dispatched in response to a 911 call from a motorist driving a Prius on Interstate 8 in San Diego County who said the accelerator pedal was stuck. The report states that the CHP unit slowed in front of the vehicle and acted as a brake to bring it to a stop. Toyota has dispatched a field technical specialist to San Diego to investigate the report and offer assistance'.
So, it got from bad to worst now. A short time ago, Toyota posted its sales from February, having numbers that show a drop of 8.7 % if compared to the exact same month of last year. And... February 2009 really wasn't a great month. But, Toyota sold 100,027 cars in America. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
