Surrey is UK`s new capital... when we talk about potholes
10th of March 2010
London? No! Surrey is UK's new capital... when we talk about potholes; a recent survey is showing that this county owns the worst roads in Britain. There are 1998 potholes and 450,000 drivers are trying to get through Surrey.
Kia Motors conducted this study, placing Hampshire on the 2nd place, having 892 potholes. The 3rd place was for Kent, with 857 potholes.
Statistics released by the carmaker’s dealer network has indicated a surge in pothole-inflicted damage for 2010 - in some areas, suspension failure, damaged rims and split tire cases have increased by 150 percent. The average repair bill for a pothole damage totals 750 pounds sterling.
The principal cause of the street holes’ spreading now is the fact that this winter was UK's coldest in the past thirty years. This problem is doubled by Britain's overaged tarmac - statistics are showing that it would need 8.5 billion pounds for rehabilitating the roads in this country.
