Any negotiation is extremely difficult, but they seem to be particularly difficult when it comes to negotiations between automakers. Should I even remind the conflict between BMW and Volkswagen regarding the acquisition of Rolls Royce that lasted for five years? Well, in the good old Koenigsegg meets General Motors fashion, now Geely and Ford are trying to reach a deal regarding the Swedish automaker Volvo. Unfortunately, things seem to be going bad. At least the latest information point out this.
Some rumors claim that there ``may have been a snag due to problems at Ford Motor Company`` during the negotiations with Geely. In order to further but gas on the fire, Li Shufu, the chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has stated ``We are ready to seal the deal...If the deal fails, the problem is not on our side. We have not violated any part of the agreement``.
The same rumors claim that the takeover of Volvo by Geely set to take place in the second quarter of this year is still on track. This move is particularly important for Geely, as the Chinese cars have a bad reputation of being completely unreliable. If they will takeover Volvo, then they will surely use the engineering methods of Volvo throughout their entire range of models.
For those of you who do not know, Geely is the largest independent and private automaker in China, being founded in 1986 and having close to 10.000 employees.
