New transmission and engine for Peugeot 207

The Peugeot 207 is the successor of the legendary Peugeot 206. At the beginning, everyone was very afraid that the new model will be a huge disappointment, not managing to be as popular as its predecessor. The sales of the Peugeot 207 surprised everyone, being the best sold car in Europe in 2007, and coming in second best sold car in 2008 and third best sold car in Europe in 2009. In these three years, the Peugeot 207 was sold in over 1.000.000 units (1 million!) in Europe.

For the 2010 model year, the French automaker decided to add a more powerful Euro 5 HDi diesel engine along with a new six speed manual gearbox for all the versions of the Peugeot 207, including the Peugeot 207 SW, the Peugeot 207 Outdoor SW and the Peugeot 207 hatchback.

The new 1.6 liter HDi Euro5 turbo diesel engine has an output of 112 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque (285 Nm of torque with overboost). The new more powerful Euro5 HDi turbo diesel engine replaces the former 1.6 liter HDi engine that had an output of 110 horsepower. More than 50% of the parts of the new engine have been redesigned in comparison to the old one.

Thanks to this more powerful turbo diesel engine, the Peugeot 207 will average a fuel economy of 51.1 mpg US or 61.4 mpg UK or a fuel consumption of 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers. Meanwhile, the maximum speed will be of 193 km/h and the Peugeot 207 will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.1 seconds.

The Peugeot 207 Outdoor SW equipped with the new engine and transmission will have a price of 17.585 British pounds or 19966 Euros or 26.720 U.S. Dollars while the three door version of the Peugeot 207 will have a price of 15.645 British pounds or 23.772 U.S. dollars or 17.763 Euros.
