Mini Cooper World Championship 50 coming to the U.S.

Mini unveiled a special edition last October called the World Championship 50 built to honor the birth of the brand and John Cooper's Formula 1 title.

Production was originally capped at 250 units and sales were limited to Europe. Reports now indicate that, since production has been doubled, 50 of these special Minis are headed to the States.

The World Championship 50 features the same 211 horsepower version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine seen in the Mini Cooper JCW Challenge. The engine also retains the same 192 pound-feet of torque as the stock engine and includes an overboost function to boost torque to up to 206 pound-feet of torque for a brief amount of time.

The exterior comes in a unique Connaught green color, with full JCW carbon fiber package, which includes the hood scoop, door handles, mirror caps, tailgate handle, and rear diffuser. The JCW aerodynamic kit, 17-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, and hood stripes complete the exterior.

The Mini Cooper JCW WC50 is said to be coming in States in April and the total price including shipping will be 40,300 dollars.
