Toyota Canada has announced a safety recall for optional "tray-type" floor mats for its Tundra and Highlander models.
The automaker says when the driver's side floor mat is unsecured or not properly installed, there is a potential risk for the accelerator pedal to get stuck in the wide open position.
Toyota said late Friday that approximately 4,774 "tray-type" mats were sold in Canada as an optional accessory for 2007-2010 Tundra, 2008-2010 Highlander and 2008-2010 Highlander Hybrid vehicles in Canada.
Toyota is asking customers to remove the driver's side floor mat, or contact their Toyota dealer for assistance.
All affected customers will be notified by mail and provided instructions on how to obtain a reimbursement.
