BMW announced that beginning this summer, it will start to offer xDrive all-wheel drive across its entire line of 5-Series Gran Turismo vehicles. All engine variants will soon have the xDrive option. BMW will also add xDrive to the 740d, making it the top diesel sedan in BMW’s stock to feature the all-wheel system.
BMW will get the roll-out started in June when it adds xDrive to the 4.4-liter-V8-powered 550i Gran Turismo and the 3.0-liter V6 530d Gran Turismo.
The 550i GT xDrive accelerates to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5.4 seconds while top speed is cut off by the engine's electronic control unit at 250 km/h or 155 mph.
The 530d xDrive GT accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 235 km/h or 146 mph.
In September, BMW will finish the process with a 300-hp 535d xDrive Gran Turismo, 306-hp 535i xDrive Gran Turismo and the 306-hp BMW 740d xDrive.
