Volkswagen presents Milano Taxi study

Volkswagen showed today, at the debut of the Hannover Trade Show (April 19-23), its idea of an emissions-free taxi: the Milano Taxi.

The electric concept car designed for urban transport features a cargo area integrated in the taxiís interior and individualized touch screens for driver and passengers. Apart from electric traction, the continuous optimization of energy-efficient and low-emission vehicles powered by combustion engines is a firm part of Volkswagenís sustainability strategy.

The concept car is painted in green and black and its styling has similarities to the legendary Volkswagen Samba bus.

The Milano Taxi is 1.60 meters tall, 3.73 meters long, 1.66 meters wide and hast two doors: one for the driver and one swivel-sliding door for the passengers on the right side.

The Milano Taxi is powered by an electric motor with a peak output of 85 kW, giving the car a top speed of 74.5 mph (120 km/h). Energy is supplied from a lithium ion battery integrated in the underbody, giving a range of up to 300 kilometers.
