Mercedes Shooting Brake Concept revealed

Mercedes Shooting Brake Concept will make its official debut later this week at the Beijing motor show. But until we'll get the chance to get the official details on it, here are the first images of the concept. Production version (codenamed X218) will compete with models like Audi A7 and the BMW 5-series GT.

The Shooting Brake Concept is distinguished by a gaping grille, headlamps with 71 LED units, a low roofline and frameless doors inspired by the current CLS-Class, and at the rear angled rear window, top-hinged tailgate and large, LED-enhanced tail-lights.

The biggest news in the concept will be Mercedes' line-up of V6 and V8 engine. There will be a 3.5-liter V6 delivering a total of 306 HP and a 4.6-liter V8 engine with a total of 435 HP. This engines will be joined by two diesel one: a twin-turbo 2.1-liter, four-cylinder unit with 204 HP and a single-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 231bhp. All the engines will be mated to Mercedes' 7G-tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox, modified to include a new stop-start function.
