Mercedes ML Prototype caused fatal Autobahn crash

On April 23rd, a 2012 Mercedes M-Class test mule has been involved in a high speed crash in Autobahn A81, which left a 26-year-old dead and the 52-year-old test driver severely injured.

Apparently, the driver of the Mercedes was doing a high speed test when he hit a 26-year-old as he was exiting his own car.

It seems that, before the accident, the young man had a problem with his vehicle and crashed into the median. Two motorists stopped to assist the man when the M-Class approached at a high rate of speed and crashed into the other vehicle as the 26-year-old was emerging from his own car.

After the impact, the 2012 Mercedes ML prototype was thrown through the air for around 250 feet and landed on its roof.

The young man died instantly and the test driver from Mercedes was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The total property damage is estimated to be around the 80,000 EUR mark.
