The trend in the car industry is to become green. To become more environmental friendly. This trend is not only available for regular, passenger cars but for sports cars that are meant for racing too. The best proof is the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid that made its world debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show back in March.

Now, with only a couple of weeks before the Nurburgring 24 Hour race (which will take place on 15/16 May), the German automaker decided some final tests are needed before participating with the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. Thus, they took the eco friendly racing car for a series of tests on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife, filmed the entire thing and posted an almost three minute long video on YouTube.

In this video we get to see the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid doing a lap on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The shots are taken from both a helicopter that was above the race track and from inside the car with the help of some strategically placed cameras. Even though it is a hybrid model, the sound of the engine is fascinating.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid will compete in the third round of the VLN Long Distance Championship that will take place at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The car will be driven by Nico Hulkenberg, a Formula 1 pilot for Williams.
