Geely unveils Solar Hybrid Micro Car

Geely IG has unveiled a new insectoid vehicle at the Beijing Auto Show. It was first seen in concept form at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show.

The car features a hood emblazoned with solar panels, a micro-compact profile, and a hybrid powertrain for fuel-efficient driving. the vehicle also boasts some antenna-like doors.

The automaker also offers two all-electric EVs, the EK-1 and the EK-2, in Beijing.
EK-1 is powered by a lead acid batteries reaching 80km/h top speed and 80 km range, while the EK-2 can go 180 kilometers on its lithium iron phosphate battery. It can recharge 80% of battery capacity in 18 minutes.

Geely also displayed the GSC (Geely Intelligent Stop-Go System) and the GPEC (Geely Plug-in Electric Hybrid Vehicle). Geely has two GPEC models, one in the EC7 model that uses an iron phosphate battery in a serial setup with a 1.0-liter engine and has a 60-km electric-only range. The other is in an EC8 in parallel with a 2.4-liter engine.
