4th of May 2010 You always think that people living in countries on the other side of the world are different. Not necessarily weird, but different. It turns out that there are weird people everywhere in the world, no matter what part of the planet you live in.
The crew of a music radio station named ``The Rock`` from New Zealand decided to do something wild. More precisely, to create a Folden. What is a Folden? you will ask. Well, a Folden is a half-breed between a Ford Mustang and a Holden HQ. For this job, the radio crew from New Zealand used a 1969 Ford Mustang and a 1970 Holden HQ.
The guys who came up with this idea were Robert Taylor and Jono Pryor, the show announcers of the The Rock`s Drive. They claim that they were ``fed up with the ongoing battle between their listeners over who is mightier – Ford or Holden``.
The good thing? This project was created in humanitarian purposes. If you happen to live in New Zealand you can bid for the Folden, which is currently put up for sale on ``Trademe``. The entire amount of money paid by the highest bidder will be donated to the New Zealand Mental Health Foundation for Out Of The Blue, an organization that helps combat depression in men. Currently, the highest bid for the Folden ( Ford Mustang + Holden HQ) is of 62.700 New Zealand Dollars, which is the equivalent of 45.800 U.S. dollars. Hurry up, as you only have time until the 6th of May.
You might be thinking that it is a lot of money for a weird half-breed between two old cars. Well, the process of creating the Folden was quite complex and expensive. The project took 3 months and more than 800 man hours labor with a total project cost of between 85.000 and 95.000 New Zealand dollars (62.000 – 69.500 U.S. dollars).
The idea was to join the rear 3/4 of a 1970 Holden HQ sedan with the front end of a 1969 Ford Mustang. The power comes from the 4.9 liter V8 Ford engine. Other features include a cool badge that puts the Holden lion and the Mustang horse together, a high end audio system, a custom interior that has been fully rebuilt, a gun metal gray paint job with orange racing stripes and unique Chip Foose 20 inch alloy wheels.
