Hyundai denies Ram based pickup truck

There was a lot of rumor in the last couple of weeks regarding that the South Korean automaker Hyundai was interested in launching and selling their own version of the Dodge Ram pickup under their own brand in the United States of America. Apparently Hyundai was in talks with Chrysler LLC for such a deal.

This rumor was quite strong so the South Korean automaker felt obliged to come out with a public statement on this subject. Thus, they firmly denied the story through an official statement made by its U.S. division.

The South Korean automaker said in its statement that ``Hyundai Motor Co. denies that there are any current plans to bring a pickup truck of any type into the U.S. now or in the foreseeable future``. They continued by saying that ``Hyundai is not in discussion with Chrysler in regard to a selling a rebadged Chrysler Corp pickup truck, or any other vehicle, in the U.S``.

Well, there you have it. It is best that Hyundai reacted relatively fast without letting this rumor grow too much. My opinion is that Hyundai would have made a mistake if they wanted to launch a Dodge Ram based model in the United States. They should try to create their own identity if they really want to launch a pickup truck model. From what we have seen from Hyundai in the last decade, they are more than capable of producing high quality models with a great design, so get to work boys!
