18th of May 2010 You would think that in hard times, like the ones we are currently living in, people tend to neglect wasting money on things that are not necessary for them, investments that do not have any practical side but are made just for fun.
Still, the Ford F-150 Raptor is here to show that this is not a rule. The massive Ford F-150 Raptor comes (optionally) with a huge 6.2 liter V8 engine capable of developing 411 horsepower and 587 Nm of torque. This enormous V8 engine is derived from the engines used in the Ford Super Duty models, having a special cam profile to help get some extra power.
The Ford F-150 Raptor was already tested at both Baja and SVT Desert Base 1. What is the news? you will ask. Well, the Ford F-150 Raptor already received over 3000 orders. As you can imagine (from the size of the car and the size of the engine), the pickup truck is not exactly your cheap utility vehicle. The Ford F-150 Raptor has a price of 41.995 U.S. dollars.
Kerry Baldori, SVT chief functional engineer, stated ``We spent a lot of time developing our desert durability test so that it's very close to replicating the Baja 1000. Desert testing proved to be a very quick way to learn about the reliability of the truck and it put another level of extreme loads on the engine that our normal durability testing doesn't cover``.
