40 mpg for new Ford Fiesta

The new Ford Fiesta is one of the best models in its class, with a nice level of comfort, good engine options and a lot of space, both for luggage and the passengers. The official Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the official fuel economy for the new Ford Fiesta. Being a relatively accessible car, a lot of people are interested in the fuel consumption of the Ford Fiesta.

Thus, the official numbers show that the new Ford Fiesta equipped with the six speed PowerShift automatic transmission has a fuel economy of 29 mpg in the city (a fuel consumption of 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers) and a fuel economy of 40 mpg on the highway (a fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers). When equipped with a five speed manual transmission, things are not as good, with a fuel economy of 29 mpg (fuel consumption of 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers) in the city and 37 mpg (fuel consumption of 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers) on the highway.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta will hit the North American market in just a couple of weeks, in both five door hatchback and four door sedan versions, with a starting price of 13.995 U.S. dollars for the basic sedan model. Both the manual transmission and automatic transmission versions of the new Ford Fiesta come with the same 1.6 liter Duratec Ti-VCT four cylinders gasoline engine which has an output of 120 horsepower.

In comparison to other models in the same class, the Ford Fiesta performs quite well. Thus, it has a better fuel economy than models like the Chevrolet Aveo, the Honda Fit, the Hyundai Accent, the MINI Cooper, the Suzuki SX4 and the Toyota Yaris. Well done, Ford.
