McLaren Automotive has announced that its MP4-12C supercar will be sold next year in 35 cities in 19 countries, with 12 in Europe (UK, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland), 8 in North America (USA, Canada), 2 in the Middle-East, and one in Africa (South Africa).
The new supercar brand, led by Ron Dennis, the mastermind behind McLaren's F1 team, said it has appointed 35 retailers around the world from the 500 who applied for representation. Plans are to expand that network further in 2012 so the automaker hopes to announce 23 new dealers before launching the MP4-12C in July.
The company is set to reveal the identities of the first 23 retailers ahead of the global launch of the MP4-12C at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
After its formal public launch in early July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the MP4-12C goes on sale initially in Europe in the spring of 2011, with a phased-in rollout later in the year to markets in North America, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Birmingham, Manchester and London are the lucky cities that will be selling the 12C when it comes in spring next year.
Between 300 and 400 cars are planned for North America, 400 to 500 for Europe, and 100 to 200 each for the Middle-East/South Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.
Of the 19 countries launching the 12C in 2011, the USA, UK, and Germany will be the company's biggest markets.
The company said it will be represented by retailers in the following cities:
- Europe: Birmingham, London, Manchester; Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich; Brussels; Monaco, Paris; Milan; Barcelona/Madrid; Zurich
- North America: Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tampa; Toronto
- Middle-East / South Africa: Manama; Doha; Jeddah, Riyadh; Dubai, Abu Dhabi; Kuwait; Johannesburg
- Asia-Pacific: Hong Kong; Singapore; Sydney; Tokyo
