30th of May 2010 Available in three- and five-door bodystyles, European Honda Civic is a rakish hatchback with more than 180 horsepower on tap.
Spies managed to capture some photos of the Euro Civic test mule, which is a wholly different vehicle compared to the next-generation U.S.-spec Honda Civic, expected sometime around 2011.
From the spyshots, it seems that Honda is making good progress with updating its best-selling compact in other markets.
The vehicle seen in these latest spy shots has a new front bumper which gives the car a larger stance, but the wheelbase looks to be the same so the overall size probably won't change too much. It also features an elevated hood, either to fit a new engine or test equipment. We can clearly see that the rear fenders have larger proportions up front.
As for what is under the hood, there are rumors that a new three-cylinder engine option will be fitted to the four-cylinder range. Also, the CR-Z hybrid would make it into the redesigned Civic, as well.
Not a word yet when the local version of the Civic will make its debut, but an all-new model is expected to debut around the 2012 mark as well.
