Jaguar F-Type is finally in business

Jaguar F Type will be go-ahead for full production, by the new owner Indian manufacturer Tata.

Jaguarís F-type concept was originally revealed at the Detroit motor show in early 2000. Inspired by the XK180 concept car revealed at the Paris Salon in 1998, the project has been constantly delayed as the company struggled with its finances.

Now, Tata Motors has promised a yearly investment of £1 billion for the next five years, which means the F-Type is truly and finally in business.

There are rumors that the new sporty Jaguar will compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 or Audi R8.

Another news from Jaguar Land Rover is that a fourth Range Rover model, a BMW 3 Series competitor and a new Estate are on their way.

Tata boss Carl-Peter Forster said "It is much better for a car company to have one large factory, than two small ones."

Also Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed it will open a new plant in China within the next two years wich is set to build Defender, Discovery and Freelander models from UK-supplied kits.

"This move isn't about taking volume out of the UK," said Forster. "It's about strengthening business in emerging markets."
