2011 Honda Odyssey officially unveiled

Four months after Honda pulled the wraps off of its Odyssey Concept at this year's Chicago Auto Show, the carmaker has officially unveiled the all-new 2011 Odyssey minivan, which will hit dealerships later this fall.

The 2011 Honda Odyssey has a lower roofline (-1.6 inches), a wider track (+1.4 inches) and overall improved aerodynamics that help increase fuel-economy while adding more interior width. It also features what Honda is calling a "lightning bolt" beltline, a feature that was present on the concept revealed at Chicago Auto Show. The new lower body is now sleeker and more stylish (for a minivan) than the last generation.

Other new features for the 2011 model year include available HID headlamps up front, new 18-inch alloy wheels, larger 12.6-inch ventilated front disc brakes, revised side mirrors and a power tailgate.

As for the interior, the vehicle is fitted with a cool box in lower center stack, HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) input, 16.2-inch widescreen entertainment system, 15 upholders and a trash bag holder, Second- and third-row passenger window sunshades. Also the two captain's chairs in the second row provide adult comfort with center seat folded down. On the 3rd row leg room increased by one inch and has been added a center arm rest.

The new Odyssey will continue to be powered by Honda's 3.5L i-VTEC V6 with 3-mode Variable Cylinder Management, although final specs have not been released. Early estimates state that the top-trim Odyssey Touring Elite will get 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
