BMW has officially unveiled the new M Sport Package for the new 2011 BMW 5-Series sedan and the new BMW 5-Series Touring.
Available from September 2010, the new package was developed by BMW's 'M' division. Both 2011 BMW 5-Series models with an M Sport package get an M sports suspension, M aerodynamics package with a new front bumper and a rear diffuser. The car rides on and 18-inch M lightweight alloy rims featuring a double spoke design. The German automotive producer also offers optional 19 inch M wheels. The saloon version of the car also gets a lip spoiler on the tailgate.
The interior of the 5 Series has received sport seats featuring Alcantara / fabric upholstery, high-grade materials and contrasting seams, an anthracite BMW Individual roof lining and aluminum hexagon interior trim strips. The multifunctional M steering wheel and the M gear knob have received a leather finish, while the footrest also features M styling.
The kit will be available for both the Sedan and Touring (estate) version of the 5 Series, starting from September.
The 2011 BMW 5-Series is currently available in the U.S. with two variants including the 535i and the 550i. The 2011 BMW 535i is powered by 3.0L twin-scroll turbocharged inline, which delivers 300-hp and 300 lb-ft, and starts at $50,475. The 2011 BMW 550i has a price of $60,575, and comes with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 making 400-hp. Both models are available with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission, BMW's new 8-speed automatic transmission or new Sport Automatic 8-speed.
The 2011 BMW 528i has a price of $45,425 and will join the lineup in July. Power for the 2011 528i comes from 3.0L inline-6 making 240-hp and a peak torque of 230 lb-ft.
