The British division of Hyundai announced today it has made some couple of aerodynamic changes and engine enhancements to its i20 mode, which led in a boost in fuel efficiency for all engines, while the interior is now more stylish and better equipped.
Hyundai added a small spoiler to the underneath of the car to improve airflow around the wheels, using low friction engine oil and an alternator management system. These modifications helped the 1.2-litre petrol engine, one of the most efficient in the class, to drop its emissions by 5g/km to 119g/km, while the 1.4-litre version dropped to 129 g/km, as well as a 4.3mpg UK improvement in fuel consumption.
The two diesel engines also see significant savings, as the 75PS model dropped by 6g/km to just 110g/km. The 90PS version achieves a 7.2% improvement in fuel economy, by adding a six-speed gearbox.
Inside, there are some minor changes. The car is fitted with an Eco Drive indicator in the instrument panel to suggest the best point to change gears. The dashboard and instrument illumination changed their color which is now blue rather than red, while Bluetooth phone connectivity with voice recognition is now added as standard on all models except the entry-level Classic.
The new Hyundai i20 is available to order now, with prices starting at £9,520. All i20s are covered by a manufacturer-backed, unlimited mileage Five Year Warranty and are equipped with ESP and air conditioning as standard.
